Our
clients and loan data are managed in commercial MFI software that connects
(manually) to our incoming payments which are all made through M-Pesa. Having
reached almost 1,500 clients to date, the need for a specific role to handle
all client and payment data has arisen. In order to ensure an excellent
customer service and for loan enforcement out customers’ data need regular TLC.
Data Quality Job Role Summary
The
Data Quality Officer will:
- Provide key
services around our client data base to our sales teams, the regional
hubs, as well as data preparation for the management team.
- Work closely with
all field staff to ensure all client information and payment histories are
up to date, and will be responsible for the accuracy of the data.
- Report directly to
one of the co-founders.
- In addition, this
is an opportunity to be part of a growing start-up with big ambitions and
a dedicated team.
Roles
& Responsibilities
Key
activities and deliverables of the role will be to:
- Verify and approve
new client data that is entered into the data base by field staff.
- Process M-Pesa
payment information on a daily basis and upload into our software. Manage
payments made on behalf of our clients by others, as well as unaccounted
or wrongly attributed payments through direct contact with the field staff
and our clients to make the necessary corrections.
- Quality control of
the existing data:
- Random spot checks
of client data and verification through phone calls;
- Identifying missing
or incorrect data regarding ID or phone numbers, as well as location data.
- Extract data and
prepare analyses for the management team and the field staff.
Minimum Essential Requirements for Data
Quality Job
- Strong and proven
numeracy and data analysis skills.
- Attention to detail
and being able to focus for long stretches of time without losing
concentration.
- Very good general
computer skills, specifically being able to manipulate data with Excel.
However, no programming or coding skills, like SQL or VBA are required.
- Whilst IT related,
this is not a programmer job, it is a data analysis job.
- BSc in Computer
Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent.
- Willingness to live
and work in Webuye, Bungoma County, for at least 6 months before possible
relocation to Nairobi with the establishment of an office there. We run a
6 day week out here.
- Interest in rural
development and making a difference for the less well-off in this country.
